Textiles are a language and living visual artform in Laos.

Founder, Elizabeth Suda, was lured to the landlocked country by the natural dyes and handloom weaving she read about. While living there, she witnessed expert women weavers masterfully making natural dyes from leaves, mud, insect resin, and seeds and then weaving them into exquisite skirts they wore everyday.

Sustainable fashion, it turns out, is not a new concept at all.

It is a way of life that endures in heritage craft. This handbag is made from natural off white and naturally dyed cotton fibers before being intricately woven by women weavers and sewn into wearable art in Laos.

Each ARTICLE22 handwoven piece is finished with leather detailing and antique brass finished hardware.
